Candidates are required to answer the questions in their own words as far as practicable.

Attempt any EIGHT Questions. [8 X 10 = 80]

  1. Imagine that you are a BHM Graduate. Draft an application letter, along with your curriculum vitae, to apply for the post of Sous-Chef. [10]
  2. Imagine that you are a BHM graduate from Tribhuvan University and going to appear in an interview for the post of Executive Housekeeping. What possible questions do you prepare for? Mention at least six questions along with their answers. [10]
  3. You have recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You phoned the shop bout no action was taken. Write a complaint letter to shop manager. In your letter describe the problem with the equipment, explain what happened when you phoned the shop and say what you would like the manager to do. [10]
  4. What factors do you consider primarily in hospitality industry? You are a manager at a hotel where a honeymoon couple has been staying for six days. Surprisingly, the husband with the help of a waiter murdered innocent girl of the order room at the hotel and ran away. How would you deal with the situation? Make sure other guests do not panic due to unsafe accommodation. [10]
  5. You look after international affairs of Square Brick hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal. You are sent to five different states of India to find out the local people’s interest of religious tourism in Nepal. Prepare a report on your visit mentioning your findings and recommendation. [10]
  6. You are the Assistant General Manager of a hotel, write memoranda on the topics given below:[2 X 5 = 10]
    a. Inter department conflict and its solution.
    b. Grievance of union in the hotel.
  7. Write an essay on “introducing folk songs and dances at star hotels”. [10]
  8. Write an article analyzing prospects and challenges of adventure tourism in Nepal to publish in a leading travel magazine. [10]
  9. What is report? Prepare its format and describe the main elements of the report in brief. [10]
  10. Write a conversation between an information officer of a hotel and a tourist who has researched about your country, its culture, heritage and political upheaval.
