Happy Maghe Sankranti to all Nepalese

Maghe Sankranti is the first day of Magh, the 10th month of Nepal. This festival is comparatively warmer than the cold of Poush month, 9th month of Nepal. Hindu people celebrate this festival by taking a dip into the nearby river. People share warm greetings after taking a holy bath by sharing foods have they cooked.

The first day of Magh is also celebrated by Tharu peoples in Terai of Nepal, which is also called Maghi festival. In Tharu Community, Maghi festival has very important role. In Barghar system (Followed by Tharu peoples to manage their village), people audit their whole year activities, therefore Tharu people take it as the new year. It is believed, Maghi is the day of happiness and friendship. People wake up early in the morning and they go nearby pond, river to take a holy bath. After taking bath, they greet their elder one, younger one. It is said, Maghi is the day to speak nicely even with the enemies. Overall, Mage Sankranti is also celebrated by all Nepalese.
