Birth of Bhanubhakta Acharya

Bhanubhakta Acharya is a Nepali poet, translator and writer. He is Adikavi (The first poet) of the Nepali language. He was the first writer to translate the great epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali. Among many of his remarkable poem, ‘Ghansi’ is regarded as the best. He was born on 29 Ashadh 1871 B.S. (July 13, 1814) in Tanahu district of Nepal in a village called Ramgha. With great honour his birthday is celebrated as Bhanu Jayanti all over the Nepal and world by Nepali people. He is also honoured with the title of Chakkavi for the contributions he made in the field of poetry and Nepali literature.
