Uruguay Won First World Cup Title

Uruguay and Argentina made to the semi-finals of the first FIFA World Cup. The first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930 from 13 July to 30 July. The final was played at the Estadio Centenario on 30 July. In the final, hosts and pre-tournament favourites Uruguay defeated Argentina 4-2 to become the first nation to win the World Cup.

The hosts scored the opening goal through Pablo Dorado, a low shot from a position on the right. But within 8 minutes, Argentina was back on level; Carlos Peucelle received a Ferreira through-ball, beat his marker and equalized. Shortly before half-time leading tournament goal scorer Guillermo Stabile gave Argentina a 2-1 lead. In the second half, Pedro Cea from Uruguay scored an equalizer. Ten minutes later, a goal by Santos iriarte gave Uruguay the lead, and just before full-time Castro made it 4-2 to seal the win.
