The bond of purity and security

Celebration of Janai Purnima and Raksha Bandhan

Every year, Janai Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Shrawan. It is called Raksha Bandhan as this festival observes the bond of purity and security. It is a Hindu festival celebrated all over the country and world. On this day, Hindu men, especially the Brahmins and Chettris perform their annual change of Janai. Janai is a holy thread made of cotton worn across the chest by male.

On this day Raksha Bandhan, Rakhi Purnima is celebrated as annual rite by Hindu, all over the world. Sisters of all ages tie a rakhi or raksha around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care. Rakhi or rakhsa is a sacred thread symbolized for protection.
